What makes a work at home business a Christian work at home business?

At first I was only looking for companies that showed on searches for the keywords "christian work at home", but after some searching I have found that almost any work at home business can be a christian work at home business if it has a christian at home running it. This has opened up many more business opportunities.

What should you look for in a company to promote?

Is their main website family friendly? Is the site free of anything that wouldn't be appropriate for all members of your family to view, including children?

What is the product or service they want you to promote? I have come across quite a few websites that have a lot of promises to make you money, yet they won't tell you anywhere on their website what in the world it is they want you to sell. Some won't even tell you after you fill out their form to be sent more information. Then they want you to join in a conference call only to be fast talked and side tracked away from what the product is. In short: If they won't tell you up front what the product is and how much your cost is and what the resale price is, RUN! Don't give them a dime! I've learned the hard way on that one. Look before you leap. 

Is the product or service something you would feel comfortable in promoting? Would selling this to your best friend lose you a friend? If so, maybe that's not a good fit for you and you should think twice about promoting that product. If you'll feel guilty at the end of the day from the money you made, consider another product.

Is the product something that would sell well in your area? You could have the best product in the world to sell, but if no one in your area needs that type of product, you will just be wasting your time.

Do they have a bad reputation or are they in bad standing with the BBB? Click here to go to their website to check out perspective companies.

Do they offer a refund? Can you get all or part of you money back if the product isn't what you thought it would/should be? Read the fine print! That's where they usually get people on getting their money back. Look for the catch.

Is the work at home offer just too good to be true? If they say you can make lots of money with little or no effort, guess again. Nothing comes for free.

How much do you have to pay for their information/product? Will you be able to make a reasonable profit? I have found some sites that offer thousands of products at or below wholesale costs (they claim). Yet the same items can be found at a local dollar or discount stores for less than you would pay the wholesaler. Do your research. Know what the product is and go to local retailers to see what the item sells for.

Will you be able to get more of the same or similar products in the future for the same price? Will you buy your samples only to find out that they are already sold out when you place your order? If you find a hot selling product, you'll want to be able to get more.

 

What will you need to start your home business?

You'll need a computer with an internet connection to do your research on work at home offers. A printer will be useful so you can keep record of your user names and passwords that you will attain from various companies.

If you will be making some sort of craft you will need space to set up a workstation. Organization is the key here. Especially if you'll be working on more than one project. You will also need to invest in needed equipment, such as a sewing or embroidery machine or woodworking tools, if you don't already own them.

Time is usually an overlooked necessity. You need to be sure you will have the needed time to make your christian home business a success.  Some businesses may only take a few hours a week of your time, while others will be very time consuming.  Don't cut your family time short. After all, that's probably why you are looking for a home business in the first place, more quality family time and to eliminate the babysitter.

Peace and quiet time is needed for telemarketing jobs. You'll need a room you can close off the noise of the household. Screaming children will be a problem. After all, when was the last time you called customer service and heard a crying child in the background. You want the customers to believe they are calling in to a main office somewhere not in to a daycare center.

 

I have listed some information here to help you avoid some of the pitfalls I came across. I have been taken by several work at home opportunities. I listed the opportunities that have made it possible for me to be a stay at home mom, which is what intended for us women to be.

 

Pray about your home business

Just take some time to check out a few sites to see what is of interest to you and your family. After you narrow down the list, pray about it. Pray about it? Yes, pray about it. If it is for you to have a home business to help meet your family's needs, God will help guide you to where you should go. Be patient and wait for His answer. I have jumped too many times from the frying pan and into the fire (so to speak), without checking with God first. I've made a lot of wrong choices. What may be wrong for me might be right for you, I don't know. Just check out some links and read the information and pray and wait on God before you make any commitments.

You know the needs of this individual and his or her specific situation. I pray that you will guide them to a company that will provide the needed income for them and their families. Help them avoid the pitfalls so many encounter as they seek home employment. Bless them with the opportunity that you have in mind for them. Help them be a success for your glory. Let their success be a testament to your grace and blessings that you have available to your people. This I pray in Jesus'  name
